      Lilly's ongoing research and commercial efforts in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) present one of the most exciting opportunities in the history of the company. There is currently a significant, growing, and intense unmet need across all key players. AD is the sixth leading cause of death in the US, and of the top 10 causes of death, it is the only disease with an increasing mortality rate and the only one that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed.

      Market Research (MR) plays a vital role in the commercialization of Lilly brands. The work is complex, including ecosystem analysis, insights discovery, branding & strategy development, customer communications and scenario planning. MR includes secondary analysis, qualitative and quantitative research approaches among customer groups such as Consumers, Healthcare Professionals and Payers to uncover actionable insights and make compelling recommendations to influence strategies.

      This is great opportunity for a marketing or market research professional to join the NBU Market Research team as the Associate Director of Market Research specifically supporting New Product Planning (NPP) and external innovation (Business Development) opportunity assessment. The NPP organization is the global marketing team that is responsible for leading the development of the asset strategy along with LRL colleagues to define asset profiles with key elements of product differentiation, placement and value proposition. The Associate Director for NPP Market Research will partner with commercial colleagues including NPP marketers, global Pricing, Reimbursement and Access (PRA) marketers, global forecasting and many others to assess disease states, develop insights into the perception of our product profiles, trial designs or other critical decisions and provide inputs into our product development plans and/or the financial valuation of internal or external products. The Associate Director will develop or utilize strong proficiency in LMR competencies to share knowledge and influence business decisions. In this role, this Associate Director will gain a better understanding of how drug development decisions can be made that shape the future global commercialization strategies.

      Responsibilities:

      • Be the voice of the customer to influence and guide marketing strategy and key business decisions.

      • Strategic Marketing/Market Research Consultation: Provide strong strategic guidance to NPP and development teams based on customer and market insights for key decisions.

      • Lead market research projects to develop insights from qualitative, quantitative or secondary approaches.

      • Develop/Solidify LMR competencies: Define the problem, Scope the Approach, Synthesize the knowledge, influence business decisions, lead the project, market understanding.

      • Leverage Lilly resources to mine across multiple studies and data sources to answer business questions. Independently apply and consult on approaches to triangulate findings, account for bias and appropriately interpret data.

      • Development and evaluation of questionnaires, discussion guides, observation guides, and listening tools. Guide analytic approach used by agencies to identify critical findings and insights. Accountable for agency oversight in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

      • Lead large-scale, inter-related projects with tight deadlines and multiple business partners; must generate scenarios to anticipate inevitable change and deal with ongoing challenges.

      • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written documents to accurately and objectively represent the voice of the customer in important business decisions.

      • Synthesize learning across studies, geographies, and key players to develop deeper insight into the market and customer; inspire strategic thinking and solution development to advance the brand.

      • Provide leadership in contributing to the market research department goals and focus areas, including leading teams focused on capabilities development and continuous improvement initiatives, use of analytics and peer coaching and contribute to the shared learning of the LMR community.


      Basic Requirements:

      • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree

      • Minimum of 3 years of Market Research or Global Marketing/affiliate Marketing experience

      Additional Preferences:

      • MBA or Masters of Market Research

      • Skill in insight synthesis and connecting insights to key development, commercial, and business decisions

      • Ability to think critically, analytically, and independently and to lead others in doing the same

      • Experience working with business partners to identify priorities, develop approaches, and implement market research, including primary and secondary research/data analysis. This includes methods/techniques, and project and process experience (e.g. procurement and privacy).

      • Ability to sort through information and data, both quantitative and qualitative; identify issues and alternatives; draw conclusions and provide sound business recommendations.

      • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and ability to influence others in the organization.

      • Proven ability to make tradeoffs and prioritize workload effectively

      • Skill in insight synthesis and connecting insights to key development, commercial, and business decisions.

      • Prior experience in Alzheimer’s Disease and/or neuroscience therapeutic area

      • Strong learning agility, with the ability to quickly pick up basic understanding of the AD disease states, customers, markets, and AD therapeutic and diagnostic brands

      • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity

      • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
