Experience successfully managing events and/or programs including promotion, recruitment, logistics, registration, and content planning
Previous grant writing, reviewing, or other research development experience.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, independence, and success working in a team environment.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Have to pass background check for working with minors in PA and continue to recheck every 60 months
Experience working collaboratively with faculty and executing faculty-driven research/grant projects
Previous project management experience, especially in managing multiple projects at one time
Experience in K-12, informal, and/or higher education
Previous grant writing experience writing Broader Impacts portions of National Science Foundation grants and/or comparable grants
Familiarity with survey and data collection, especially with minors
Experience building strong relationships across university colleges, centers, and institutes and with the community
Familiarly with doctoral level research
Previous research experience, especially related to STEM

The University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) forms the foundation of the scholarly excellence that has established Penn as one of the world's leading research universities. We teach students across all 12 Penn schools, and our academic departments span the reach from anthropology and biology to sociology and South Asian studies.
The SAS Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) supports all students, faculty, staff, post docs, and alumni in the School of Arts and Sciences. We support dialogue, inquiry, and programming that works toward creating inclusive and equitable practices to provide access to academic research environments and the pursuit of knowledge. We accomplish this through robust recruitment and retention practices, building and sustaining a caring and supportive community, and deepening knowledge as well as connection to one another.
As part of the ODEI, the Science Outreach Initiative (SOI) supports access, inclusion, engagement, and a culture of belonging in STEM. The SOI creates, implements, and evaluates collaborative outreach and engagement activities between the University of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia community, and other partners. We facilitate the bi-directional translation of scientific, mathematical technological, engineering, and technological knowledge between the University and its partners by fostering community connections.
Duties/Job Responsibilities:
Lead engagement projects and proposals with faculty and students, particularly as part of NSF Broader Impacts, at various stages of proposal development and project implementation, including identifying potential partners, finding a good match between research and educational project outcomes, creating experiences for students with a range of ages and backgrounds, and developing grants and programming budgets.
Lead and collaborate on research projects to determine the most effective models of STEM engagement.
Partner with the Director in identifying, launching, and coordinating effective, scalable models for broader impacts that can interface with faculty research. Includes independently developing long-term relationships with partners within and outside the university and supporting opportunities that increase access to and participation of underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
Autonomously prepare programming and materials for STEM educational outreach components of grants and site visits to support collaborative projects with faculty and other University personnel.
Partner with the Director to determine additional hiring needs to support outreach (e.g., student workers, part-time, or full-time workers) and transition to supervising additional hires in the long-term.
Assist the Director in tracking and promoting STEM educational outreach efforts across the University, including sharing information, resources, assessment results, and opportunities internally and externally.
Coordinate with the Director and future Associate Director of Evaluation to ensure all projects and programming are being evaluated.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Master's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ph.D. preferred.
