      Job Description

      SUMMARY :

      Reporting to the Director of Residential Education, the Associate Director of Residential Education is responsible for coordinating all activities, programs, as well as training, selection and development for all student staff lines for the Department. The Department is responsible for more than 5,500 students residing in various apartment and residential communities on two campuses including two complexes maintained by joint efforts with Capstone On Campus Management. The Associate Director of Residential Education collaborates with University Campus partners to assist in the creation of a seamless residential experience for residents.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

      • Supervise the Residential Student Support Specialist and Graduate Program Coordinator, and indirect oversight of 300 student employees.

      • Lead student staff hiring, training, and development for all undergraduate and summer positions.

      • Develop and implement learning objectives, manuals, and training programs for student staff positions.

      • Coordinate logistics for training events, speakers, and development activities.

      • Oversee recruitment processes including interview design, scoring rubrics, and hiring workflows.

      • Maintain the student staff roster and manage onboarding in collaboration with HR.

      • Evaluate performance of undergraduate and graduate staff through structured tools.

      • Establish and support student governance including Residence Hall Associations and councils.

      • Collaborate with campus partners to enhance the residential living experience.

      • Monitor and evaluate the residential curriculum and make annual improvements.

      • Support Assistant Directors in compiling programming metrics and reports.

      • Maintain programming inventory and recommend long-term supply purchases.

      • Create promotional materials and maintain proficiency in relevant software tools.

      • Lead Red Hawk Days initiatives and other programming in partnership with campus offices.

      • Assist with campus opening/closing, special events, and weekend programming as needed.

      • Serve as on-call administrator for residential life emergencies.

      • Represent the department on inter- and intra-departmental committees.

      • Demonstrate professional ethics, initiative, and engagement in departmental meetings.

      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      QUALIFICATIONS :

      REQUIRED :

      • Master's degree from accredited college or university in higher education administration, student personnel services or related field.

      • A minimum of six years of professional residence life or student affairs experience with a record of progressive advancement and supervision.

      • Excellent time management skills plus a strong proficiency in written and oral communication.

      • Direct experience with professional and student staff supervision, training and development, residence hall activities and educational programs.

      PREFERRED :

      • Experience working with multicultural groups.

      • Live-in experience.

      • Knowledge of college student development, programmatic needs, and fostering a sense of belonging.

      • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and a desire to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction with a focus on continuous improvement.

      Salary Range

      $81,000.00-$86,000.00 Annually
