      Associate Director, Scientific Communication and Education

      YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

      • Directs the development and implementation of global communication strategies and plans in consultation with marketing, medical, clinical development, clinical investigators, opinion leaders and external partners;
      • Translates scientific data into relevant product communication topics. Identifies gaps between brand communications and supportive data and recommends remedies (studies, analyses, expert position statements) to be implemented;
      • Directs the planning, development and implementation of global workshops, advisory boards and other stand-alone scientific educational programs that generate important information to guide ongoing communications efforts to the global medical and scientific community;
      • Directs the development and implementation of the global congress strategies and plans for the presentation of data, scientific symposia and other scientific education programs that communicate important information to the global medical and scientific community;
      • Participates in the planning, reviewing, editing of scientific content. Ensures the data are relevant to the global medical and scientific community and are presented in context of previously published findings.Internal Communications and Training;
      • Directs the development and implementation of internal scientific communications to ensure that new product and scientific information are disseminated appropriately to medical affairs colleagues globally • Supports the planning and development of core medical/scientific liaison materials globally for local implementation;
      • Develops and maintains global training platforms and materials to ensure currency with latest developments.External Expert Relationships;
      • Works with internal colleagues to establish professional relationships with global clinical investigators, opinion leaders, and consultants in the oncology community;
      • Maintains and develops relationships with scientific communications agencies, clinical research organizations, and other service providers as required to support the global scientific communications program.Management of staff and agency partnerships;
      • Directs external partners for maintenance and creation of new content related to ongoing projects;
      • Plans and managing timelines, budget and manpower against the global communication plans and approved resources. Proactively initiates corrective action as needed.

      Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

      Required qualifications:

      • Advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D, Pharm.D, or equivalent) in a scientific discipline;
      • Oncology training/experience is a priority;
      • Experience in a related scientific/medical/pharmaceutical area. Experience must include scientific communications, medical writing and publications planning and execution:
      • Proven ability to interpret scientific and clinical trial data and present that information in different formats for appropriate audiences;
      • Awareness and understanding of good publication practices and their implications;
      • Understanding of the drug development process over different stages;
      • Understanding of global regulations and guidelines;
      • Thorough knowledge of company policies and processes;
      • Experience of developing and delivering presentations and publications in English;
      • Strong written and oral communication skills;
      • A strong global mindset;
      • Experience leading cross-functional teams, across cultures and geographies;
      • Experience working across boundaries and building effective working relationships between functions;
      • Proven record of relationship building, both internally and externally to the organization.

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Minimum of 3 years’ experience;
      • Preferably, disease and therapeutic area knowledge in oncology/ hematology for Bayer’s existing portfolio and new opportunities.
