      Associate Editor/Editor (m/f/d) in Mathematics Books, Springer

      We are seeking a Mathematics (Associate) Editor to join our editorial team, starting in January, 2024. This permanent, full-time position is based in Cham (CH), but other locations such as Heidelberg may also be considered.

      The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the publication of scientific books as well as books series in the field of mathematics, from the initial proposal through to publication. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, since building and maintaining strong working relationships with authors, series editors, and other partners, both external and internal, is essential to this role. The role also requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to proactively work in team, and an affinity for the academic world.

      Key tasks:

      • Identify potential authors, acquire and publish content in assigned subject areas
      • Evaluate book proposals and manage the peer-review process
      • Collaborate with Editorial Board members to evaluate manuscript submissions
      • Liaise with authors throughout the publication process, including negotiating contractual conditions
      • Coordinate and smoothly cooperate with internal departments such as production, marketing, and sales
      • Establish and maintain a network of good relationships with academics and colleagues within the company
      • Attend international conferences and visit universities for acquisition
      • Achieve annual publishing goals
      • Business travel (domestic/international) as required

      Qualifications, skills and experience:

      • Graduate degree in Mathematics or related field
      • Excellent written and spoken English
      • Be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks
      • Be able to work independently as well as smoothly cooperate in a team environment
      • Availability to travel to universities and attend international conferences
      • Track record of working to deadlines and delivering results

      • International experience (study or work abroad)
      • If applying as Editor: some years of experience as an associate editor or comparable positions
