- Starts researching, developing, and/or evaluating intermediate-level programs, policies or activities within the discipline they are assigned which have small impact or level of complexity; solves a range of medial problems and develops solutions using standard-moderate procedures. Examples include interact with subject matter experts and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with providing information/consultation to management/assigned customers on existing environmental programs and policies. Examples include develops and conducts section and department administrative and development functions including special projects and assignments, employee training, emergency preparedness and quality assurance programs. Provides regulatory-required and internal environmental reports. Serves as an intermediate expert for advanced technical programs and compliance issues and supports company’s environmental or safety goals, strategies, programs and processes. With assistance from a Senior or above, the incumbent develops and maintains procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental laws and regulations. Helps advanced teammates ensure that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance. Assists with tracking basic regulatory changes, basic legislative activities and basic industry standards and helps advanced teammates assist with identifying needed changes to facility’s compliance programs. With appropriate leadership guidance they may assist with working with federal, state and local regulatory authorities to interpret regulations and laws. Supports Duke Energy on various internal/external industry committees and teams.
- Continues to develop and increase knowledge of the organization, procedures and assigned customers and analyzes and understands intermediate-level information, past practices and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers.
- Develops positive working relationships with peers, customers, employees and management to effectively complete work activities.
- Bachelors degree in Health & Safety, Science, Engineering or other related degree
- In lieu of Bachelors degree, High School/GED and 4 years related work experience
- Bachelors degree in Health & Safety, Science, Engineering or other related degree
- Minimum 3 years related work experience
- Masters degree in Health & Safety, Science, Engineering or Business
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility
Office environment with exposure to PC terminal and keyboard
- Outside work during all seasons.
- Occasional overtime, weekend, outage and callout work.
- Field, work site, facility visitation required.
- Vehicle travel involved to field location, typical travel safety factors
- Valid driver's license

This is the entry level of the EHS Consulting classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve problems, in environmental, health, and / or safety areas of specialization, with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures.
This role monitors the practices of Rogers Energy Complex to facilitate compliance with company and/or regulatory policies and requirements in which to mitigate risks. Examples include serve as single-points-of-contact or coordinator to implement environmental activities that require broad knowledge and experience in order to provide compliance solutions to environmental issues. Supports basic work activities in order to comply with environmental regulations and corporate requirements. Develops, implements and maintains programs, systems and procedures. Monitors and prevents EHS incidents and hazards along with investigation of incidents and/or complaints. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Participates in and supports EHS compliance and management system audits.
