- Provides Project Management services during the study phase to ensure studies are completed on-time and in accordance with Tariff provisions of Schedule 22/23/25.
- Ability to work on multiple interconnection projects with various Eversource departments to ensure TIS Leads have the necessary information for constructive conversations with ISO-NE and the Interconnecting Customer (IC).
- Manages and acquires interconnection information related to constructability, project costs, and engineering design of the proposed interconnection.
- Takes the lead with assessing how transmission facilities will be removed when a generator retires and needs to be disconnected from the power grid.
- The ability to negotiate complex issues with multiple parties.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, and formal presentations.
- Ability to influence and lead others.
- Ability to work effectively and represent Transmission positions with all levels of the organization, ISO-NE, and regulatory organizations.
- Excellent teambuilding, interpersonal and motivational skills.
- The ability to schedule, plan, and manage complex projects.
- Ability to quickly understand related regulatory and legislative requirements and proposals.
- Knowledge of ISO-NE tariff schedule 22 and 23 for generator interconnections, applicable engineering, work practices and procedures, and safety requirements, strongly desired.
- Knowledge of the energy delivery power system, strongly desired.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering is required.
- Master’s degree in engineering, finance or MBA is desirable.
- Project Management Certificate of accomplishment is desirable.
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of utility experience including exposure to interconnection processes and procedures is required.
- Prior experience in the broad aspects of power systems planning and operations, power pool operations, emerging power markets, regulatory interfaces with federal and state authorities, is helpful.
- Prior experience representing/negotiating business interests to a regional or industry organization, is preferred.
- Experience developing written proposals and presentations in a team environment, is helpful.
- Experience implementing and complying with company engineering and construction guidelines, is desired.
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $76,980.00 to $85,530.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.
Eversource is looking for an Associate Engineer, Interconnection Projects located in Hartford, CT or Westwood, MA. This individual is responsible for overseeing the Transmission Interconnection study process associated with generator and load interconnections to the Eversource Service Territory. Serves as technical liaison with all internal departments of Eversource, during the study phase, that support interconnections, with emphasis on engineering and system planning and the needs of the Transmission Interconnections and Services (TIS) Leads. In addition, this individual must possess an understanding of the strategic aspects of the interconnection such that they can offer creative and efficient approaches to the interconnection project.
