Job Summary
This entry level position in the Project Origination group of Asset Management has the primary responsibility of overseeing the successful development of feasibility studies including engineering, schedule, and budget, allowing for the safe and on time execution of PSE&G project and program portfolios. This is a multi-grade job positing and successful candidate will be awarded the job position based on experience.
Engineer will work primarily from 4000 Hadley Rd, South Plainfield, New Jersey.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following:
•Interface and coordinate with groups throughout PSE&G including Asset Management & Centralized Services, Project Management Teams, Licensing and Permitting, Construction, Outage Planning, Project Engineering, Regional Public Affairs and Community Outreach, and Corporate Real Estate to complete feasibility studies which include the development of conceptual scoping documents, optimal station layouts, one-line control drawings, construction sequences, project schedules, estimates, outside plant circuit routing, and risk evaluations.
•Develop conceptual station arrangement design drawings utilizing Microstation
•Act as the primary Company interface with multiple Architect-Engineering firms during the initial phases of a project
•Coordinate with system planners, system protection engineers, designers, asset subject matter experts, project managers, vendors and construction and operations personnel, as the project moves through the approval process and assure that PSE&G and industry technical standards are maintained
•Review Architect/Engineer vendor packages to ensure all engineering standards, construction standards and safety codes are adhered to
•Develop conceptual distribution outside plant circuit routes and estimates
•Maintain and apply and working knowledge of PSE&G Standards for Business Controls and meet management expectations for effective internal business controls.Additional responsibilities include:
•Participate in on-call assignments in accordance with PSE&G requirements for response to system emergencies.Job Specific Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
•B.S. in Engineering with 0- 2 years of relevant experience
•Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
•Subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations
•Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
•Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
•Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
•Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
•Must be willing to perform on-call/emergency support as needed
•Strong computer skills in MS Office applications and SAP
•Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects/encourages all aspects of diversity
•Familiarity with Visio, Microstation, AutoCAD or other drafting applicationsDesired Qualifications:
•Electrical utility experience.
•Project management experience.
•Electric system outage and contingency planning experience.
•Familiarity in reading / understanding electric one line diagrams.
•Familiarity with outside plant transmission and distribution electric system assets.
•Familiarity with inside plant substation equipment and operations.
•Knowledge and understanding in electric distribution / transmission field operations.
