      Overview

      The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission of training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.

      GPM/SJG is seeking an Associate Epidemiologic Research Analyst, to provide analytic support to the Global Hematology Program, Disease Burden and Simulation Unit, and other program teams in GPM and SJG. The Associate Epidemiologic Research Analyst will facilitate utilization of data on sickle cell disease, childhood cancer, and other catastrophic childhood illnesses to support research and quality improvement initiatives. Activities may encompass all stages of the research data lifecycle and will be executed under the guidance of the director of Global Analytics.


      Responsibilities

      Responsibilities:

      • Providing data cleaning, structuring and processing, analyses, and reporting
      • Collaborating with investigators and program teams to discuss research projects and understand data needs
      • Using statistical software packages (e.g., SAS and/or R) to write programs for data processing and statistical analyses
      • Integrating and merging diverse data sources to generate datasets for analysis
      • Documenting processes, data issues, statistical methodology and analysis results
      • Data visualizations; developing dashboards (using R shiny, Microsoft Power BI or other tools)

      Skills and Abilities

      • Demonstrated proficiency of statistical software programming for data manipulation and structuring (SAS, R, etc.)
      • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
      • Experience in healthcare data management
      • Knowledge of statistical methods. Familiarity with descriptive statistics, linear statistical models, categorical data analysis, generalized liner models, multivariable analysis, and survival analysis
      • Knowledge of databases such as Access, Oracle, REDCap.
      • Ability to work well within a team environment
      • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
      • Cultural sensitivity is a must

      Minimum Education

      • Bachelor's degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or related field required
      • Masters’ Degree preferred

      Minimum Experience

      • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related experience required.
      • Experience Exception: Master’s degree with no years of experience.
