      The Associate General Counsel is responsible for providing a full range of in-house legal services to the Company, with an emphasis on real estate activity.

      Responsibilities and Duties:

      The Associate General Counsel will work on a variety of legal, transactional and operational matters affecting the Company (as experience and aptitude dictate), including the following:

      • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing land acquisition contracts and related documents
      • Reviewing, analyzing and providing counsel regarding due diligence (including title and survey) associated with the acquisition of land and lots
      • Working on M&A transactions
      • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing other legal documents, contracts and correspondence
      • Managing and administering legal and operational issues relating to the development, opening and operation of neighborhoods and to the sale of homes
      • Working on risk management and compliance issues, ranging from safety to document retention
      • Working on corporate governance matters
      • Managing contract and other disputes
      • Developing and drafting forms and processes

      Position Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree and JD degree from top college or university
      • Admission to the bar of Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia.
      • At least 10 years of legal experience.
      • Prefer that the candidate be based in Northern Virginia, but also open to candidates based in any one of our markets

      Martin Alloy and Stanley Halle created Stanley Martin in 1966 in the Maryland suburbs outside of Washington, D.C.
