Instructor, Jewellery Design and CAD
London Education Reports to: School Director (London)
Primary Function:
Provides a positive, constructive and creative learning environment for students in the Jewellery Design and CAD/CAM classes, by performing the following duties:
Responsibilities:
· As an instructor, delivers education to GIA students in some or all of the On Campus Jewellery Design and Comprehensive CAD/CAM programs and Lab classes utilizing a variety of tools and software including, but not limited to: Rhino and Matrix CAD software, CAM RP equipment, audio-visual aids, and other materials to supplement presentations.
· Imparts appropriate and relevant course material consistent with GIA’s course plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and facilitator guides, in order to remain aligned with GIA’s global reputation, standards, and integrity.
· Addresses student concerns, complaints, or issues promptly, and effectively interfaces with the London School Director and/or other appropriate Education staff as needed for further action.
· Counsels students regarding academic performance and methods for improvement.
· Maintains and fosters sensitivity and respect for a culturally diverse classroom environment.
· Proctors tests; and receives, corrects, and processes student assignments and/or projects.
· Submits final student grades to Student Services according to required schedule.
· Participates in Education meetings, training, and ongoing professional development, as needed, concerning course material, instructional content, student feedback, operational and administrative procedures, etc.
· In general, may travel occasionally to national and/or international locations for training, instructional, development or Institute representation purposes.
· Communicates effectively, gets along with co-workers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure.
· Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
· GIA Jewellery Design Certificate, GIA Comprehensive CAD CAM (CCC) Certificate, GIA Jewellery Design & Technology (JDT), GIA Graduate Jeweller (GJ) diplomas preferred.
· A minimum of three years related practical jewellery industry experience is required.
· In addition, Bachelor's degree (BA or BSc) and five years related practical jewellery industry experience is preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of jewellery design techniques and a complete understanding of the jewellery industry
· In-depth knowledge of CADs present and future state
· Ability to demonstrate a command of theory and contemporary knowledge, and continuing study in field.
· Ability to effectively present course material and provide answers and feedback to students.
· Ability to effectively interface with staff and students.
· Ability to relate with students and their ongoing issues.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Must have legal right to work in UK.
PAY RANGE
Starting salary at £40,000
