- Defines, plans, and executes high quality analyses and presents key findings both internally (e.g. to deal teams) and externally (e.g. to senior members of client team)
- Performs complex financial modeling and leads valuation analyses to support strategic and tactical recommendations
- Researches and analyzes company and industry financial and operating information
- Develops written internal and external presentations, including marketing and pitches
- Exercises judgment and thinks creatively to identify, diagnose, and solve problems
- Understands the M&A transaction cycle and the steps in the process, and is execution oriented
- Supports broader team in identifying business opportunities and winning new mandates
- Builds effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Mentors junior members of the team, including analysts, co-ops and summer analysts
- Demonstrates ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Effectively manages multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines
- Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients
- Undergraduate or graduate degree with a quantitative focus, including academic coursework in finance, economics, and accounting, with a sustained record of outstanding academic achievement
- Strong financial modeling skills are required for this role
- 2 - 4 years of investment banking experience or similar experience within project finance, corporate development, private equity, asset management, equity research or other related fields
- Experience in the power, utility and/or infrastructure sector will be viewed favourably
- Highly skilled in conducting financial analyses and building complex financial models.
- Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively collaborate and build strong working relationships with professionals from diverse backgrounds
