      This posting is for Southwest's Warrior Hire Program. The mission of the Warrior Hire Program is to recruit and hire transitioning Veterans and guide and support them through the beginning of their corporate career by providing them opportunities for professional growth, camaraderie, and mentorship. This Associate Network Engineer supports our Purpose by supporting the Field Network Engineering Team. This position plays an important role in the installation, configuration, and support of our distributed airport network. No two days look the same in this role, and you’ll be in the center of many station projects – including communications room moves, airport expansions, reliability assessments, LAN/WAN enhancements, and more. This Associate Network Engineer will help to maintain and build the Enterprise Network of the future for Southwest.

      Additional details:

      • This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is a limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

      • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

      • Job Summary

        • Provide technical support for the design and deployment of network solution. Play a prominent role in the building configuration and deploying network equipment.

      • Responsibilities

        • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary

        • Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems

        • Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems

        • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records

        • Maintain and administer computer and data networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations

        • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records

        • Gather data pertaining to customer needs and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements

        • Implement and provide technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and telecom system

        • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future

        • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

      • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

        • Ability to analyze and resolve problems

        • Knowledge of hardware components, systems, software, and networking technologies

        • Ability to prioritize effectively and take on multiple concurrent assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible self-work and/or the work of others

        • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service-oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality

        • Skilled in troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving network traffic and issues

      • Education

        • Required: High School Diploma or GED

        • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent formal training

      • Experience

        • Required: Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:

          • Network hardware/platforms (Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS)

          • Communication protocols (TCP/IP) and routing protocols

          • WAN connectivity

          • Network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark)

        • Preferred:

          • Cisco

          • Palo Alto

          • Citrix

          • Aruba

          • CCNA/CCNP

          • Kanban

      • Physical Abilities

        • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

        • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

        • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

      • Other Qualifications

        • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

        • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

        • Must be at least 18 years of age

        • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

      Pay & Benefits

      • Competitive market salary from $84,350 per year to $93,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
