Job Description

- Ensure appropriate handling and storage of temperature-controlled materials. Ensure material and sample data are accurately entered and tracked in ERP system.
- Provide support to resolve customer inquiries, such as discrepancies in shipments or quality complaints. Report all complaints and process deviations, inventory maintenance, and database updates.
- Perform supervised laboratory work for basic repository specimen preparation and processing such as nucleic acid extraction, blood fractionation, cell immortalization, and basic aliquoting.
- Monitor temperature-controlled storage systems and document system alerts. Maintain freezers and tanks. Maintain an organized storage system and inventory of internal specimens.
- Follow proper safety protocols, maintain materials and equipment, and properly store inventory to ensure viability when transferring and transporting heavy and hazardous materials.
- Process incoming shipments, stock and replenish inventory, pull sales orders, and prepare samples for shipment.
- Perform functions following standard operating procedures with the effective use of equipment, methods of storage and retrieval, general laboratory procedures, and systematic data entry.
- Share observations of current protocols and procedures to develop repository operations to Senior Management.
- Demonstrate the flexibility to travel to other facilities and respond to after-hour emergencies.
- High School diploma and 0-2 years' experience or equivalent experience.
- PCs competence including MS/Windows, Excel, Word and an ability to learn other applications.
- Knowledge of methods to handle, process, and store biological specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system.
- Knowledge of Universal precautions, general laboratory, and quality control/assurance procedures.
- Must be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to complete work under tight deadlines and have strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with temperature sensitive materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The Associate Repository Technician is tasked with supporting assigned activities within the repository. They are responsible for maintaining inventory, storage, retrieval, and shipping of biological specimens, samples, and materials to support commercial and government customers.
The Associate Repository Technician requires a working knowledge of technical, operative, or administrative methods and practices as well as biorepository/biobanking industry best practices. This position uses standard precautionary procedures to work independently, communicate effectively, and make sound decisions. They work on assignments which are routine in nature, and they receive detailed instructions on all work.
