      Associate Scientist

      (Technical R&D Drug Product)

      Job Purpose:

      We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled Associate Scientist to join our Global Process Engineering Drug Product team, based in Siena, Italy. Our goal is to deliver and transfer stable vaccine formulations and robust processes (fill & finish) to the clinical and manufacturing sites within GSK network.The Associate Scientist is expected to support the design and execution of scientific studies for vaccine technical programs as they progress from early development into Phase I/ II, Phase III, technology transfer and process performance qualification at the intended commercial site.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Execute specific development projects in collaboration with the related platform staff, following the quality by design framework.
      • Utilize scientific knowledge and experience to implement and interpretate scientific and technical data to support own area projects and influence technical decision.
      • Assist in the development of in silico models and digital tools to support process development, transfer to manufacturing facilities and process troubleshooting.
      • Actively participate in technical teams finding answers to practical needs and requests by the application of CFD models and simulations.
      • Be updated on the latest trends and advancements on CFD and simulations solutions, both on software and infrastructure items
      • Collaborate with related platform staff to design, implement, and interpret the data from development workstreams

      Why you?

      Basic Qualifications & Skills:

      We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

      • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology , Pharmaceutical Science, or related scientific fields. Master’s Degree with some related experience.
      • Knowledge of C++, python, MATLAB, or other script-based codes.
      • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
      • Learning agility, be proactive and self-motivated.
      • Fluent in spoken and written in English.

      Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

      If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

      • Good understanding of vaccine/biopharma manufacturing process.
      • Knowledge of CFD software such as ANSYS FLUENT, OPENFOAM, STAR-CCM+ is desirable but not necessary.
      • Previous experience in supporting process development of parental drug product.
      • Written and spoken local language is a plus
