      We are looking for an Associate Specialist Bioinformatics in Microbial Genomics, to support the Food Safety Bioinformatics and Statistics groups in their research strategy. In this role, you will deliver bioinformatics and microbial genomics expertise (bacteria and yeast) to characterize products and ingredients for product development and food safety.

      A Day in the Life of an Associate Specialist Bioinformatics

      • Perform bioinformatics/genomics analysis for research studies applied to factory environment/product pathogen contaminations and to business strategic product development using, for example, variant calling, metagenomics and phenotypic characterization approaches
      • Identify and evaluate the latest bioinformatics pipelines and participate in the design, development and improvement of specific bioinformatics analysis workflows under Linux environment
      • Support/coach microbiologists in the use of genomic data through fit-for-purpose software

      What will make you successful

      • MSc or PhD in Life Sciences in microbial genomics, with a specialization in Bioinformatics or Computer science
      • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in bioinformatics after graduation
      • Strong programming/scripting capabilities (i.e. Python, R, Bash, Awk…) under Linux environment
      • Work experience with next generation sequencing data is mandatory (short and long read sequencing technologies)
      • Ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary teams and multicultural environment
      • Experience in database design & management is an asset
      • Fluent in English
