      Due to growth an opportunity is now available for a Principal Environmental Consultant to join our Victoria based Environment team. You will support the environment and society service line with delivering environmental assessments and environmental management on a variety of projects including renewable energy and infrastructure. This may include field work and report and plan preparation.


      We are seeking a highly experienced environmental professional with diverse environmental approvals experience. You will lead in delivering regulatory approvals for a variety of projects in the chemicals, new energy, infrastructure and resources sectors. You will have previous project experience and have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of State and Commonwealth legislation.


      This client-facing role will suit a person with strong communication skills and problem-solving ability, together with experience in the full-stage delivery of State and Commonwealth approvals with established relationships with regulatory authorities (EPA, DWER, DMIRS and DCCEEW).

      In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

      • Leading projects that deliver high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment and regulatory approval documentation that will include documenting baseline information, potential impacts and recommending management actions.
      • Preparing detailed proposals to assist in securing a steady stream of approvals-based work.
      • Providing leadership on the selection, qualification and development of scopes of work for environmental contractors and manage scope delivery and performance.
      • Coordinating technical environmental studies and environmental modelling as required in collaboration with project personnel and technical SME’s.
      • Participation in, or facilitation of, State and Commonwealth government and regulatory meetings.
      • Working within multi-disciplinary project teams, providing advice on environmental management, approval requirements and compliance issues.
      • Developing approval strategies for a variety of projects and providing trusted, specialist advice to clients.

      To be successful in the role you will have:

      • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or related fields of study with experience in managing State and Commonwealth environmental approvals.
      • Experience as a practicing environmental professional.
      • Demonstrated experience coordinating environmental approvals (i.e. EP Act Part IV impact assessments, Part V works approvals and licensing, EPBC Act referrals and Environment Plans in the in the resources sector or similar industry.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, clients and teams with proven track record of delivering environmental approval projects on time, on budget and to a high standard.
      • Experience interacting with regulatory authorities such as the EPA, DWER, DMIRS and DCCEEW.
      • Excellent communication and technical writing skills and the ability to engage effectively and build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
      • Existing client network and demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and win work.
      • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups, and make presentations when required.
      • Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity.
