- Effectively implement new technologies, products, or applications to address technology needs for the business. Comprehend test method scope and limitations and prepares internal test methods, designs overall testing protocol to deliver project objectives.
- Convince others about differentiated technical solutions. Articulates synergies between technologies to maximize value effectively and understands how business value is created for Dow and the customer.
- Consistently apply the scientific method to solve technical problems. Understand the connections of the scientific method to Six Sigma, ICO, DFSS, NPI, and other methodologies.
- Develop new approaches and solutions to problems by considering issues from different points of view.
- Manage secrecy agreements and joint development agreements to protect Dow technology for specific projects.
- Provide constructive input to project participants.
- Lead technical sub teams and defines scope of the larger project space.
- Mentor junior level scientists and technologists.
- Deliver presentations or reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicates appropriately to influence internal and external audiences.
- Communicate and appropriately document work in the form of internal reports/ROC's/presentations, technology manuals, knowledge management resources, external reports, and patents when appropriate.
- Serve as principal author on papers and presentations and presents at industry conferences.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or science related field required.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience is required.
- This role requires approximately 25% travel
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
- Bachelor’s degree in field of construction including architecture, construction management, structural engineering, building science or mechanical engineering.
- 2+ years experience in the commercial façade market with knowledge of fenestration and insulating glass
- 2+ years experience in construction specification process
- Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel
- Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards
- Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment

About you and this role
Dow has an exciting and challenging opening for an Associate Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Scientist in the NA Building & Infrastructure (B&I) team. Roughly a $520MM business, B&I TS&D supports the Façade Systems, Weatherproofing and Infrastructure, Pro and Retail, and Green Building market segments. Dow is the market leader for building envelope applications within the commercial construction market that utilize silicone technology. B&I engages customers throughout the value chain including the building owner and architect (project design and specifications), offsite fabricators and contractors onsite. Our products are mostly sold through specialized distributors, who we engage with daily.
As the Associate TS&D Scientist, you support customer needs by leading the development of new applications and by providing technical knowledge for fenestration assembly and insulating glass. Location will depend on the candidates degree of expertise with the market. This role also works with sales to contribute to achieving overall commercial plans.
