- leading the Office of General and Exploratory Studies to maximize the success and outcomes of pre-major or first-year students related to progression and engagement, including but not limited to oversight of first-year student programming – including campus orientation, first-year seminar planning and delivery, pre-major advising, exploratory students, and engagement with Purdue Fort Wayne Academic Affairs related to general education course delivery and student success.
- fostering faculty shared governance and faculty engagement on the Fort Wayne campus including, but not limited to regular meetings with faculty, assuring the alignment of academic policies and programs with those of related entities in Indianapolis, including the Schools offering programs on the Fort Wayne Campus, and regularly attending the Indianapolis Faculty Council meetings, primarily via distance technology.
- engaging the campus to create and sustain a campus climate where every student is feels valued and engaged to be a co-creator of the academic experience that fosters success and wellbeing, including co-curricular programming, advising, planning career support, recognition and graduation ceremonies with campus partners,
- guiding IU Fort Wayne academic program leaders, in accordance with IUI policies and goals of the Schools, to create curricular programs or to modify programs to meet accreditation guidelines, to address changes in the professions, and assure curricula that prepare excellent graduates
- interfacing with IU Indianapolis and Purdue Fort Wayne student life leadership, addressing student conduct from a growth mindset within the policies of Indiana University and IU Fort Wayne, and serving as a Title IX deputy.
- collaborating with academic leaders and faculty to establish development and orientation programs, including leveraging relationships with Purdue Fort Wayne and IU Indianapolis, to support excellence in the scholarship of teaching and learning, research, and service.
- expanding academic and co-curricular relationships with P-12 schools, IVY Tech, and entities in the region such as Junior Achievement, Boys and Girls Club, and more to foster progression in career pathways.
- monitoring campus outcomes related to retention, progression, and graduation, leading campus constituents to implement high impact educational practices, and achieving increased retention, timely progression, and degree attainment.
The IU Fort Wayne campus seeks qualified candidates for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Students engages collaboratively with deans and colleagues in Indiana University Indianapolis-based schools, Purdue Fort Wayne Colleges and Schools, Purdue Fort Wayne Cabinet members, particularly the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Experiences, as well as leaders of PFW shared services, and the IU Fort Wayne campus to develop policies and programming to engage and support campus constituents. This position directly influences the campus’s functions and operations through work performed.
