      WHO WE ARE:
      The mission of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is to promote and support a workforce system that creates value and offers employers, individuals and communities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity. To support our mission, we are seeking to fill two Assistive Technology Unit (ATU) Evaluator III positions to join the Assistive Technology Unit in the Evaluation and Support Department in the Office of Bind Services Support. This position is located at 4800 N Lamar Criss Cole-ATU Lab, Austin, TX.

      You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO:
      Under supervision of the ATU Manager, the ATU Evaluator III (Program Specialist III) performs complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work and provides AT evaluations to TWC customers and staff. The ATU Evaluator III plans, develops, and delivers assistive technology presentations as requested; identifies and tests assistive technology contract equipment and software; and maintains current knowledge of developments and trends in the field of assistive technologies. May provide guidance to others. The work of the ATU Evaluator III is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Occasional statewide travel not to exceed 10% of work time may be required.

      YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
      -Provide assistive technology evaluations to blind and visually impaired customers.
      -Maintain equipment, software, and devices in the ATU lab.
      -Review assistive technology products for quality, functionality, and compatibility.
      -Stay informed about AT industry trends, innovations, and products.
      -Perform all functions related to the approval, training, and development of AT contract providers.
      -Develop, maintain, writes AT guides, lists, procedural manuals, and policy
      - Perform moderately complex work involving direct customer services and technical assistance.
      - Work under general supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
      - Create and maintains resource guides, lists, provider test records and data, assistive technology information and review results.
      - Write complex customer evaluation reports
      - Create and maintain manuals, intranet sections, and procedures.
      - Provide training to other staff and contract assistive technology services providers.
      - Create tests in subject matter to test potential and existing contracted assistive technology providers
      - Participate in special projects.
      - Develop, coordinate, and maintain systems for organizing assistive technology products by product feature or use category
      - Perform related work as assigned.

      YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
      - Experience providing assistive technology evaluation services to customers who are blind or have visual impairment.
      - Experience using the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Manual (VRSM) policies and interpreting TWC VR policies
      - Experience using Rehab Works, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
      - Skilled in use of JAWS and Fusion
      - Spanish English bilingual
      - Skilled in use of braille and braille products
      - Ability to problem solve challenging situations
      - Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally with the general public, agency staff, and vendors
      -Verifiable training from a blind and visually impaired (BVI) entity, state VR program, high school, or nonprofit can substitute for education/experience for a job vacancy in a specific program area.
      -Expert knowledge of assistive technology products and industry trends
      Skill in the use of standard office equipment, software, and assistive technology equipment and software such as braille devices, ORC products, video magnifiers
      -Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
      -Ability to communicate effectively.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus one year of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency.
      -One year of full-time experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.
      -Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
