      Job summary

      We are looking for a motivated individual who has the ability to communicate effectively and confidently and provide a full and efficient audio typing service supporting the Cancer Services Secretarial Team. We would welcome applications from candidates with a good standard of education and an RSA II or above Typing qualification. Audio typing experience, a knowledge of professional letter standards and a good knowledge of English grammar is essential. Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficient audio typing skills at interview. The ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload is essential. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required.

      The successful applicant will support an existing busy Secretarial Team. You will be required to work across disciplines (with appropriate support and training) within the Cancer Services and as such must be able to deal with sensitive information.

      The part time position is for 31 hours per week.

      Main duties of the job

      1. Type clinic and results letters and other patient related documentation within the agreed timescales using audio typing skills.
      2. File test results and loose histories regularly and accurately as appropriate, following Trust policies on Information Governance and patient confidentiality.
      3. Retrieve, log and return case notes/medical records, keeping these in accordance with Trust policy ('Case note tracking' and 'Filing in Case notes').
      4. Follow Trust and departmental processes and contribute to their design and development as required.
      5. Monitor the e-Referral Service electronic GP referrals printing and downloading new referrals in order that they enter the clinical triage system and logging their acceptance accurately.

      • RSA II or equivalent in Audio Typing
      • RSA II or equivalent in Secretarial Skills
