      GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

      This role develops public-facing digital content that contributes to a world class experience for audiences onsite at The Met's NYC venues and globally via online channels and platforms. The Met seeks a creative thinker with a talent for video storytelling, who has a demonstrated commitment to including a diversity of perspectives. This individual works in collaboration with producers, project managers and stakeholders across the Museum, including Curatorial, Education and Marketing, to develop content that is compelling and relevant to visitors, leading to deeper engagement and impact.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

      • Video editing of media productions for web, social and in-gallery projects.

      • Involvement in all aspects of media production, from inception to completion on wide ranging projects including short and long form videos.

      • Creation (including storyboarding) and delivery of media content to digital teams for in-gallery, social and web publication.

      • Plan and produce video and complete all post-production processing, including editing, correction, asset management.

      • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects to reach goals and deadlines, while staying on schedule and on budget.

      • Collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, on all aspects of projects, including planning, original content, storytelling, production level and platforms, turnaround time, corrections, approvals and project estimates.

      • Operation of video cameras as well as lighting and sound recording equipment when needed.

      • Archiving media to various databases and archives.

      • Updating guides and standards for video data asset management.

      • Maintenance and management of video production equipment and other related duties in coordination with other team members.

      • Remote recording on new and emerging platforms.

      • Other related duties as assigned.

      EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

      • Strong skills in providing creative solutions to storytelling and communication needs. Range of work includes promos, educational, artists profiles, documentary storytelling, behind the scenes and exhibition tour videos.

      • Strong video editing skills using Adobe Premier are required, and proficiency in animation software such as After Effects is highly beneficial, as is working knowledge of Adobe CS, Figma, Excel, Google docs.

      • Proficiency in all aspects of video production and post-production including audio, color correction and export compressions for various web and social platforms.

      • Strong technical, organizational and communication skills.

      • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and produce time-sensitive materials on time.

      • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Moving Picture Projectionists, Video Technicians, and Allied Crafts Union, Local 306 of the International Theatrical Stage Employees Union. As a condition of employment, all new hires must become members of the Union within 30 days of hiring or pay to the Union a service charge in an amount equal to the regular dues and remain in good standing.

      KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

      • BA or BFA in Film, Media Studies, Art History or equivalent experience.

      • Adobe CC (Particularly Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Riverside, Zoom.

      • Publication on web and social platforms.

      • Competency using Sony (FS7, FX6, FX9) cameras or similar equipment is highly beneficial.

      COMPENSATION RANGE:

      • Pay Rate: $44.56/hour

      • The advertised starting salary rate reflects the good faith minimum and maximum hourly rate for this role. Starting salary rates and/or new hire rates are set in accordance with the IATSE Local 306 and Museum collective bargaining agreement. Incumbent rates may vary depending on an individual employee’s seniority status, and/or based on terms as provided by the collective bargaining agreement.

      Location Requirements

      At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
