- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
- Provides amplification and/or assistive technology to appropriate candidate.
- Educate parents and professionals on areas relating to hearing sensitivity, auditory processing and remediation of hearing loss.
- Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
- Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
- Completes required documentation to support dispensing and purchasing hearing aids.
- Completes required documentation for newborn hearing screening program.
- Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings.
- Participates in departmental meetings.
- Participates in process improvement.
- Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base. Informs Manager of any difficulties.
- Maintains billable productivity level as required.
- Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
- Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
- Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.
- Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
- Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
- Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
- Supports orientation, competency assessment and precepting
- Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department.
- Routinely demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems independently within their hospital role, clinical and non-clinical.
- Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
- May be required to work at an alternate location (inpatient or outpatient based on skill set) to support patient care needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility regarding departmental scheduling needs including but not limited to compliance with family-friendly hours, floating between settings and locations, offering hours that support the patient population, etc.
- Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
- Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
- May be required to assume clinical supervisory responsibility of the newborn hearing screening program.
- Provides clinical supervision/guidance to the following job classes under direction of the departmental Director: Hearing Aid Specialist, Rehabilitation Attendant, Rehabilitation Support Staff, Audiology Intern and Student Affiliates.
- Master's degree in Audiology; or
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Au.D.) or equivalent.
- Current Texas Licensure as an Audiologist
- Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
