      The Department of Otolaryngology is currently seeking a full time Audiology Fellow to work in Miami. The position of Audiology Fellow is a fellowship for an individual interested in developing skills in both cochlear implants and general audiology. The incumbent will spend half of their time working in the Cochlear implant Program and half of their time in the Audiology Diagnostic Clinic.

      CORE DUTIES

      Learns how to provide intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring for head and neck, otology, pediatric otolaryngology and neurosurgery. Provides diagnostic assessments of patients. Utilizes electronic medical record and audiologic and nerve monitoring software applications. Participates in case conferences, staff meetings, and clinical research. Drafts and publishes manuscripts and articles for peer-reviewed journals and grant applications. Assists with the maintenance of supplies by checking stock regularly and advising supervising staff of anticipated needs. Maintains current knowledge of new technologies and approaches in the field. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

      • In the Audiology Diagnostic Clinic, the individual will perform routine audiometric evaluations including air, bone and speech testing, immittance testing, and such special diagnostic procedures as evoked potentials and otoacoustic emissions.
      • The individual will develop and implement the skills to evaluate potential hearing aid and/or assistive device candidates.
      • The individual will perform electroacoustic measures and Real-Ear measures to verify device performance.
      • Counsels candidates regarding expectations and device selection and will perform the necessary follow-up.
      • In the Vestibular Clinic, the individual will perform Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials, Post urography, Rotational Chair testing, and Videonystagmography testing for assessment and diagnosis of vestibular disorders.
      • In the Implant Program, the individual will develop and implement the skills to evaluate potential implant candidates, will counsel candidates regarding expectations and device selection and will perform the necessary follow-up for implant patients.

      In final year of an Audiology doctoral program. Bachelor’s required.
