What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Audit medical records to identify missed charges, incorrect coding, and inconsistencies affecting billing opportunities
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses to report findings on coding issues and missed billing
- Retrieve missing patient information and complete coding of unbilled records identified through audits
- Prepare reports and executive summaries of audit findings for educational purposes
- Provide coding support for cross-functional team inquiries and special projects
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience
- Must have and maintain an approved coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA
- Must obtain at least one additional certification (CANPC or CPMA) within 1 year of employment
- Extensive knowledge of medical billing software, electronic medical records, and CMS claims processing
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft 365 and Excel proficiency (basic formulas, concatenate, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous coding experience within Anesthesia or General Surgery
- Knowledge of clinical documentation compliance and regulatory requirements
