      The coordinator will plan and manage outreach activities to the University as well as the greater Pittsburgh community such as programming, exhibitions, and social media initiatives that make use of the August Wilson Archive, and other related African American Performing Arts collections, held by Archives & Special Collections (A&SC) within the University of Pittsburgh Library System. Work includes coordinating tours and visitations, developing programming that highlights the August Wilson Archive, assisting in developing and delivering effective library instruction sessions to Pitt and secondary teachers and students, participating in the A&SC exhibitions program, providing reference and research support, and conducting interviews and media appearances. Supervises one (1) FTE support staff and student assistants. This position will require evening/weekend hours based on the nature of events. Position is grant funded for one year with the possibility of extending to one additional year.

      Develops, implements, administers, and participates in a program or outreach program. Coordinates networking and informational meetings for staff as well as events and event logistics. Assets in managing departmental budgets and builds community partnerships.

      The AWOEC is responsible for promoting the use of the August Wilson Archive to local area high school students, their teachers, artists/creatives, and community residents through paid research award opportunities. The position will be actively engaged in outreach to scholars and researchers to draw attention to the use of the August Wilson Archive, including the Pitt community and beyond. The AWOEC will serve as the primary professional point of contact for usage of the August Wilson Archive, including collaborating with teaching faculty to integrate the collection into curricular activities. Incumbent will supervise one (1) FTE support staff position. The AWOEC will oversee a programming budget as well as monitor compliance with grants and gifts that help support the study and use of the August Wilson Archive.

      Incumbent must be able to stand for extended periods of time; frequently bend, crouch, and stoop; lift a minimum of 30 pounds; and unpack, shelve, and shift large quantities of books and archival boxes with or without reasonable accommodations. Incumbent must be able to push a flat-bed truck or mail room bin containing boxes filled with boxes or archival material with or without reasonable accommodations.
