ABOUT HILLSIDE:
Our Hillside Aluminium smelter in Richards Bay produces high-quality, primary aluminium for the domestic and export markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is a permanent full-time position.
As an Authority To Work Officer , you will be responsible t o be representative of the plant owner the ATW officer controls the activities of both the external and internal work crews. The ATW officer ensures that separation of duties is maintained where permits are required by validating that the requirements and criteria for a safe outcome is met. The ATW officer must be risk adverse and have a solid plant process knowledge to enable him/her to effectively manage interactive hazards.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Administer all documentation associated with the Authority to work process, including document storage requirements ;• Receive , review and confirm scopes of work;• Hand over the specified system / plant , w here there is an associated lockbox isolation, confirm that the scope of work can take place within the original intent and boundary;• Issue Authority to work and Controlled release of stored energy etc.•ABOUT YOU:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
• Must have a minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing industry / maintenance environment;• 1 Year and more experience in the current ATW system as an Authoriser , Holder or Permit Issuer is essential;• Detailed knowledge of activities related to operating and maintaining equipment is essentia l;• Computer literacy is essential;• Demonstrated verbal and written English language proficiency;• Must be prepared to work shifts.•Qualifications for this role are:
• Serious contenders will have a N4 in a technical field of study with a recognised Trade test;• A National Diploma in a technical field of study will be advantageous.South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
