      What You Will Do:

      The Authorization Specialist is responsible for the verification of insurance eligibility, management of insurance authorizations for patients, and scheduling/administrative responsibilities.
      nnResponsibilities and Duties
      nnProvides office support by answering phones in a timely fashion, greeting patients, visitors and vendors responding to inquiries, complaints, concerns and requests transmitting information to appropriate staff members as necessary.
      nnNotifies appropriate office staff and patient of insurance benefits, criteria and coverage.
      nnPrepares records for medical record requests.
      nEnsures that all initial consult paperwork has been done.
      nnContacts patients prior to initial evaluation and conducts patient appointment reminders by telephone.
      nnInforms Physician of daily changes in schedule.
      nnFacilitates any physician request through the day, i.e., referring patients to another practice, paging any physician requested by the physician in office.
      nnSchedules and completes testing order forms for patients and faxes the forms to the appropriate departments. Assists in requesting copies of tests, surgeries, or office notes to be placed in patients' chart. Prepares referral letters and reports.
      nnCalls patient if insurance will not allow extended referral authorization; informs patient of financial obligations or reschedules.
      nnIn the absence of Patient Service Representative, greets patients, schedules appointments for patients and vendors, prepares daily transaction sheets for office manager to review and make bank deposits.
      nnMaintains confidentiality and security of all information contained in the medical records in accordance with HIPAA.

      What You Will Bring:

      Education

      High School Diploma or GED requiredn

      Experience
      Basic knowledge keyboarding and Microsoft Office required
      nMinimum 1 year of experience required
      nPrevious physician office experience required


      Qualifications
      Must demonstrate patience and good judgement.
      nMust have excellent grammar, effective communication skills, and present a professional image.
      nMust have working knowledge of health insurance and be comfortable with navigating coverage sites.
      nKnowledge of EMR system preferred.
