Job Description

- Perform a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles, buses, trucks, tractors, refueling vehicles, military vehicles, LSV/OGMVC’s, material handling equipment, and special purpose equipment.
- Place & Maintain decals on vehicles.
- Check and replace batteries.
- Rotate, repair, and replace tires.
- Wash, polish and clean interiors and exteriors of vehicles.
- Drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission and differential grease and oils.
- Check, clean, calibrate and replace spark plugs.
- Clean and replace oil and air filters.
- Adjust brakes; replace windshield wipers and similar minor parts.
- Assist on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points and electrical wiring and other items.
- Maintain tools and equipment and clean work areas. Practice good housekeeping tool control, FOD prevention and safety always.
- Must use proper customer service etiquette.
- Perform other associated or related duties as assigned.
- Keep work area clean.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical equipment.
- Certification in Automotive Technician program is preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience working as an automotive technician doing basic maintenance and repairs.
- Must have personal tools/toolbox (tools are not provided)
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently required to sit and climb or balance.
- Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in the various areas of assignment; use of hand and power tools in the construction, electrical, mechanical, welding and trades; safety practices and procedures.
- Mathematical skills to compute measurements
- Ability to communicate both orally and in written format, including ability to instruct others in correct maintenance procedures and safe use of materials and equipment.
- Ability to work as a team member
- Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision
- Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to be on call after hours and handle emergency calls.
- Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance/Secure Area Badge for assigned job and be flight line qualified (where applicable).
- Must be able to obtain National Agency Check (NAC).
