      About the Role

      The Operations Manager is a critical role within the Aviation Academy, supporting the Director in the day-to-day operations of the Academy, and managing key stakeholder relationships to ensure that all aspects run effectively and to the highest standards, promoting the Academy culture and creating an elite environment for the development of aviation professionals.

      The role will oversee the flight school operations and will also support the design, development, delivery and evaluation of innovative products and services to meet the needs of industry and students. In addition, responsibilities include oversight of RMIT’s aviation facilities and ensuring the aviation programs are developed and delivered in line with regulatory and quality requirements. This position is a key member of the Academy’s core administrative team and provides essential support to coordinate strategic projects and support the business activities across the Aviation portfolio.

      In addition, this position supports the Director and the Head of Operations to coordinate a range of activities such as planning, recruitment and HR administration, induction/onboarding, etc. Key to the success of this role is the ability to work effectively with and across the School Executive, College Operations teams, and the broader University.

      About You

      To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

      • Highly developed planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing business plans, priorities, monitoring performance, and meeting deadlines.

      • Sound knowledge and experience of managing compliance and regulatory requirements of aviation contracts including external regulators e.g., CASA.

      • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional and technical documentation including policies, procedures and protocols for various audiences.

      • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets including controlling expenditure.

      • Experience in budgeting and financial management and proven ability to interpret financial data to provide high quality advice.

      • Experience in the management of aviation facilities to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

      • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to foster effective sharing of information.

      • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills with demonstrated capacity to promote learning and teaching.

      Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
