      The Aviation Security (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic, Aviation Security Manager (ASM) to provide leadership and oversight of security programs. The ASM will be responsible for launching and overseeing operations at locations within a specific geographic region and for enforcing security standards by ensuring compliance with corporate policies, federal regulations, and standardized processes at multiple locations.

      The successful candidate will develop and provide the Amazon team and business partners with necessary tools, resources, and training to build and maintain the security culture. This position will require strong communication and partnership with Senior Leaders, managers, peers and team members, both within Amazon, third party contractors, government agencies, customers as well as with other business partners, to drive effective solutions and mitigate any risks to the operation.


      Key job responsibilities
      The ASM responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
      • Ownership of the overall security, policy and compliance within the region.
      • Establish, clarify and set clear expectations with associates and leadership within the region.
      • Conduct inspections, assessments and audits for quality assurance.
      • Develop and drive security and quality initiatives that continuously improve processes and mitigate deficiencies
      • Oversee third party staffing qualifications and ensure required levels are maintained
      • Provide oversight on individual and team career development through various training and development mechanisms
      • Manage security programs and infrastructure as related to new sites and existing site projects
      • Develop and maintain relationships with other support teams such as Operations Human Resources, Safety, Employee Relations, Legal, etc. to align on existing or new initiatives
      • Manage timely, ethical, and professional investigations into security incidents and violations
      • Utilize Amazon Risk Management program to identify the root cause for failures and develop mitigating actions to reduce risk
      • Conduct consistent site visits focused on identifying risk through quality assurance assessments and developing mitigating strategies
      • Implement security and shrinkage control programs to protect assets from loss due to internal/external theft and operational issues
      • Responsible for identifying, reporting, and leading the correction of non-compliance and deficiencies, as well as, serve as a point of contact for regulatory engagement from Federal, State and Local agencies.
      • Work and travel using flexible hours to meet business needs
      • Successfully pass a security background check as prescribed by the TSA
      • Travel domestically up to 75% of the time.


      A day in the life
      As the ASM, you will oversee and manage the security programs, physical security, loss prevention, investigations, protection of assets and intellectual property and associated functions to help ensure the safe, efficient, and secure operation at Amazon facilities. The ASM is therefore integral in mitigating Amazon insider threat. You will be expected to create policies, processes and measures in accordance with governing rules, regulations and policies. This role provides key program management support to the Sr. Manager and other matters related to the overall strategic goals of the team. A typical day may also require you to coordinate travel, meetings, training and guidance that impacts all Amazon customers and sites.

      About the team
      The Aviation Security (AvSec) team is responsible for security, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance at Amazon. The organization is built with four core pillars; Security Management Systems, Programs and Quality Assurance, Security Operations, and Credentialing. The organization is committed to identifying and mitigating risk to people, Amazon assets, Amazon brand and regulatory compliance through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of best-in-class aviation security procedures, standards and guardrails between which Amazon operates. Those risks could impact Amazon’s brand, associates, customer data, and assets, globally and our guardrails must be effective and scalable. Supporting our customer teams at fulfillment centers, AIR gateways, and Prime Air sites to implement process improvements, mitigate risk, resolve equipment issues, and implement new processes to improve performance, AvSec contributes to safe and secure transportation of air cargo to our customers.

      We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

      Lockeford, CA, USAo Bachelor degree or 5+ years of experience in a security related field
      o 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following disciplines: Physical Security, Security Operations, Transportation/Supply Chain Operations, Risk Management or Aviation Security.
      o Experience in a customer service focused environment
      o Experience with MS Office Professional Suite, including the creation and utilization of pivot tables and formulas.
      o Experience of report and case management writing skills.
      o Masters (MBA) degree with 5+ years of experience leading and developing a team.
      o Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes.
      o Ability to independently manage through ambiguity and effectively prioritize, multitask, and exercise good judgment.
      o Experience in an aviation or other regulated field.
      o Ability to deliver executive level verbal and written communications.
      o Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement individual and team goals using SMART, OKR, KPI, etc. strategies.
      o Demonstrate strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $163,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
