      Job Summary

      AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination. The AVID program focuses on enhancing the current curriculum and developing students' skillset to support them now and beyond their K-12 years.

      Under direct supervision of the AVID coordinator, tutors in the AVID program will provide academic and social support to intermediate and high school students who strive to attend college and achieve career success. Specifically, AVID tutors support students directly utilizing the AVID Tutorial model, where AVID tutors help facilitate meaningful study groups with students. Following employment, training in the AVID Tutorial model will be provided.

      In this position, you will have the opportunity to mentor, motivate and inspire students to earn success in their current coursework and visualize the positive impact of their effort in future endeavors.

      Opportunities are available at most Newport-Mesa Unified School District intermediate and high schools:
      •Ensign Intermediate School
      •TeWinkle Middle School
      •Costa Mesa Middle and High School
      •Estancia High School
      •Newport Harbor High School
      •Early College High School
      •Back Bay High School

      Hours of work vary and are flexible based on candidate's schedule.

      Hourly rate is $18.50/hr.
