Serve as technical expert for network products
Internet proxy and firewall services (Secure Web Gateway)
Remote access tools; with traditional and zero trust network access (ZTNA) solutions
Provide leadership and forward thinking of access service solutions
Work closely with the team Product Owner understand business needs and translate them into product requirements.
Develop designs and create road maps for the connectivity product implementation
Technical leadership of engineering objectives for the deployment and servicing of connectivity solutions, overseeing all stages of design/development.
Develop architecture diagrams and documentation for supported solutions.
Provide knowledge transfer and training for team members and operations staff
Engage with Information Security teams to ensure that all solutions are both secure and performant
Manage and maintain engineering standards for supported products.
Serve as SME for team technical job aids.
Provide assistance with product certification for supported products.
Assure solutions are developed in accordance with Compliance/Audit requirements.
Participate in Agile processes with Network Access Solutions team.
Assist Program Increment (PI) Planning for the product team.
Participate in Scrum meetings, and product Sprints.
Assist in Agile story development.
Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of product based experience OR in lieu of degree 9+ years of product based experience
A minimum of 2 years as lead engineer or architect for infrastructure teams
2+ years of experience leading engineering projects
Strong background of enterprise networking for both internal and external connectivity services
Strong background in Secure Access Security Edge (SASE) components: routing/switching, network proxy/SWG remote access (ZTNA)
Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as AWS/Azure Public Cloud, DNS and firewalls.
Knowledge and background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python, Ansible, Terraform or similar automation toolsets
Understanding of GIT source control management
Track record of creative problem solving and ability to thrive in a cross-functional and virtual environment
High energy, self-motivated, with strong communication skills and experience working with external clients & technical development teams.
Ability to adapt to varying scenarios and cater presentations and style based on the audience
Experience with Agile software development framework, acting in the Product Owner role
Product and operational experience in a DevOps environment
Experience in the credit card or financial services industry
Curiosity and passion for learning about new technologies and identifying ways to drive innovation
Self-aware and adaptable

The Synchrony CTO organization provides technology solutions and leadership across the entire company and customer base. This new role is a key part of our Network Access Services (NAS) team, supporting Synchrony's zero-trust remote access and secure web gateway services. These services form a core piece of our overall connectivity platform, developed and supported by multiple teams in our global network engineering group.
Role Summary/Purpose:
We are seeking a network architect to spearhead the design and implementation of Synchrony's Security Service Edge (SSE) solution. This role will be an individual contributor and will focus on Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) products, supporting users across the globe. The ideal candidate will have broad technical skills in the areas of network routing, switching, firewalls, proxy and remote access, as well as experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible. Additional important traits include strong communication skills, experience working in a matrixed environment with technical engineering and development teams and experience working in an Agile environment. The candidate should be able to solve complex technical problems and map solutions to business needs. This position will report to the VP, Connectivity Engineering.
This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally).
