Maintains responsibility, governs and is accountable for multiple portfolios within the P&C business or the enterprise, with a varying level of complexity (i.e., Company Agency Portfolio), including planning, governance, resourcing and financial management, risk management, communication, and change management.
Manages and leverages the life cycle of investments, initiatives, programs, projects, and outcomes to optimally achieve business goals and objectives, for multiple portfolios within a business or the enterprise, with a varying level of complexity (i.e., Company Agency Portfolio),
Ensures effective financial and resource management of overall portfolio, assisting in managing portfolio expenses to align with strategic intent and achieve business value.
Works with strategy and operational strategy teams, PMO leadership and Enterprise PMO to influence prioritization and sequencing of work efforts within portfolio, as applicable.
Governs and influences decisions pertinent to scope changes as needed.
Reviews and resolves risk and issue escalations for portfolio and identifies need for escalations as needed.
Communicates regularly with Executive Sponsors, Program Sponsors, business owners, Senior Executives, CEO, Board, and additional stakeholders as required.
Establishes and manages critical path by mapping out and managing work effort scheduling and interdependencies based on constraints and risks.
Reviews health and performance of portfolio regularly and identifies performance improvement opportunities (e.g., work effort status, path-to-green)
Ensures compliance of Portfolio with company and regulatory policies and procedures, including Enterprise PMO requirements.
Drives the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA’s Change Management methodology.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
10 years of progressive program or portfolio management experience to include process improvement and/or consulting for large strategic efforts.
6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
Executive-level experience delivering member or customer facing capabilities in a complex multi-channel, multi-product, integrated system environment.
Deep executive level experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Executive level ability to manage complex budgets, communicate risks and issues and provide remediation plans.
Executive level communication and presentation skills including delivering presentations to executives and/or C-suite.
Executive-level experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Experience in portfolio management delivering complex work efforts working with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
3 years SAFe methodology experience and well versed with Scaled Agile Framework’s Portfolio Management methodology.
Comprehensive understanding and application of risk management policies and procedures.
Currently possess at least one of the following: Certified Project Manager (CPM), Lean Portfolio Management Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) or gain one within 6 months of placement.
Extensive understanding of and demonstrated proficiency in USAA’s change methodology or commensurate industry change methodology.
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Executive level experience within the financial services industry, with a preference for Property and Casualty insurance experience

This executive governs multiple portfolios within the P&C business. Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $180,500.00-325,000.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
