      The Associate Vice President of Real Estate Services reports directly to the Vice President of Real Estate, VCU Health. The AVP of Real Estate Services is responsible for oversight of planning, design and construction for all projects and providing assistance to the VP in managing the VCU Health Facility Portfolio. The AVP, Real Estate Services will work directly with the directors of planning and construction and collaboratively with the directors of real estate and resource management on implementing the organization’s portfolio optimization program; to ensure functional, operational, and financial performance of VCU Health real estate portfolio is aligned with mission and vision of the organization. The AVP of Real Estate Services fosters a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. The role is responsible for leading a diverse and inclusive team of internal and external resources focused on ensuring project timelines and budgets are monitored, maintained and met as established with each project. The AVP will provide assistance as needed to the VP to integrate asset management, property management, facility management and transaction management to produce a highly flexible and financially performing portfolio. The AVP will function in the absence of the VP.

      The AVP, Real Estate Services partners with the real estate team in collaboration with VCU Development and Facility Management , and VCU Health operational leaders to develop and implement a long-range portfolio strategy that will enable the operational needs of VCUHS. This role is responsible for integrating and optimizing a planning, design and construction platform that enables the operations of VCU Health built environments across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

      Essential Job Statements


      Responsible for planning, design and construction project management in collaboration with VCU project managers and VCU Health directors and project managers and is responsible for working collaboratively with the VP for developing, implementing, documenting and maintaining all projects.

      Integrate business unit strategic initiatives and strategic growth plans.

      Participate and work in collaboration with VCU Health on portfolio optimization and scenario planning for built environment strategic initiatives and projects

      Demonstrates inclusive leadership, interest, skill and success in getting groups to learn to work together in order to foster teamwork and cultural responsiveness.

      Conducts in collaboration with VCU Health leadership and the VP ongoing assessment, planning and oversight of the equitable management of planning, design and construction projects and develops processes, procedures and documentation

      Assists in collaboration with VCU Health and the VP to develop a Real Estate projects for presentations to appropriate board committees and organizational committees and teams. .

      Facilitates in collaboration with VCU and VCU Health strong connection between the planning design and construction functions along with the portfolio management, real estate and lease administration

      Develop goals and objectives for team and ensures short and long-term goals are met. Provide ongoing training for the team in processes and procedures. The AVP will utilize software systems for documentation and validation of projects.

      Lead and develop the team through training, coaching and mentoring as well as leading by personal example and accountability. Evaluate team performance, counsels team members and recommends appropriate corrective actions as appropriate. Hold team accountable for determined performance metrics.

      Act as a change leader in an effort to hire leaders and team members who are collaborative and have an institutional orientation.

      Employment Qualifications


      Required Education:

      Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Finance or related Field.

      Preferred Education:

      Master's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Finance or related Field.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Years and Type of Required Experience:

      10 years’ experience in managing planning, design and/ or construction projects or similar experience.

      Portfolio and asset management

      5+ years in leadership role with significant business impact

      Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

      Knowledge in the administration of equitable healthcare compliance programs

      Computer proficiency with extensive Microsoft and project software suite skills.

      Effective organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload and successfully manage all financial activities.

      Analytical skills and demonstrated management and supervisory capabilities are required.

      An inclusive and cooperative approach to problem solving with the capability of building consensus and support, working across functional lines to engage disparate resources to work together to achieve desired results.

      Working Conditions

      Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
