- Azure Virtual Desktop Architecture: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of the agency's Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, ensuring scalability, security (in Gov Cloud with PIV), and high performance.
- Infrastructure Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements, including hardware, networking, and storage, necessary to support Azure Virtual Desktop deployment.
- Technical Strategy: Develop and communicate a comprehensive technical strategy for Azure Virtual Desktop, including best practices, standards, and future-proofing considerations.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure that the Azure Virtual Desktop environment complies with security standards, including
- Azure STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), and implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
- Integration: Evaluate and integrate Azure Virtual Desktop with existing technical infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and compatibility with other systems. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of the Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, configurations, and procedures for troubleshooting and disaster recovery.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Azure Virtual Desktop administrator and other IT teams to provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership.
- Testing and Optimization: Conduct performance testing, optimization, and tuning of the Azure Virtual Desktop environment to ensure efficient operation and user satisfaction.
- Technical Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure, implementing effective solutions.
- Stay Current: Stay up to date with the latest developments in Azure, virtualization, and related technologies, and assess their applicability to the agency's environment.
- Typical experience and skills for this role include: 4+ years of experience designing and implementing Azure Virtual Desktop solutions, with experience in GovCloud environments leveraging PIV login.
- Experience in architecting and planning desktop virtualization systems.
- Proficiency in virtualization system optimizations and tuning.
- Expertise in system and data backup (5+ years).
- Configuration and documentation management (3+ years).
- Experience coordinating with service providers (3+ years).
- In-depth knowledge of Azure, Nutanix, and Windows.
- Proven experience in complex infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent certification; work experience may be a substitute.
- Experience with Azure ADC (Azure Application Delivery Controller) is a significant advantage.

Overview
Azure Virtual Desktop Architect
Location: Remote with some travel to Vienna, VA
Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance REQUIRED
Integral Federal is seeking an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop Architect to take a leadership role in designing and implementing a robust Azure Virtual Desktop environment for a federal agency in a GovCloud environment leveraging PIV login. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the architecture and ensuring its alignment with the agency's needs. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess an active Department of Defense SECRET clearance.
