- Bachelor’s Degree in a communications-related discipline such as journalism, public relations, political science, writing, English, or marketing, AND
- One (1) year of related work experience*, OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Experience leading complex files and projects.
- Experience supporting communications or community outreach for an organization, public agency or client.
- Experience working in the field of communications for a large organization.
- Experience working in a government or media environment.
- Understand and commit to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Work outside of standard business hours (including statutory holidays and weekends).
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations, including operational deployments across the province.

Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) is a dynamic, progressive organization that supports the government in its ongoing dialogue with British Columbians. GCPE leads and coordinates government communications and public engagement through three divisions: Communications Operations, Strategic Communications and Corporate Priorities.
The Media Relations Unit provides provincial, regional and multicultural media relations and supplements and enhances media relations conducted at the ministry level. Under the supervision of the Senior Director, the Media Relations Officer coordinates the translation of media-facing communications materials, acts as media liaison, and develops and implements communication strategies and services.Job Requirements

About this Position:
This position will be based in Victoria. Telework options may be available upon successful completion of a probationary period. Telework is voluntary with conditions.
The starting salary for this position is $65,300.21 - $72,250.21 annually, and will be determined by the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience.
An eligibility list may be established.
This position is excluded from union membership.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
