      The Crown Agencies Secretariat (CAS) is a central agency of the B.C. government that supports public sector organizations to operate effectively, in the public interest, and aligned with government’s strategic direction and priorities. The Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office (CABRO) oversees the recruitment and recommendation of candidates for appointments to all Crown corporations, agencies, boards and commissions and provides oversight of governance and corporate accountability across all public sector organizations.

      Reporting to the Director, the Advisor leads cross-ministry projects and manages cross-government policy initiatives supporting best practices in Board recruitment and appointments and broad public sector governance. The Advisor makes recommendations to improve transparency and accountability of PSOs through enhanced policy direction, advice and/or through the development of guidelines. This work includes engaging stakeholders to review CABRO products and services and identifying opportunities for improvement. The Advisor is a key policy and management role that fulfils a development and succession pathway to the Senior Advisor position at CABRO.

      Job Requirements:

      • Minimum two years’ experience undertaking research, project/program coordination, and one or more of policy, financial, business or program analysis
      • Experience gathering, researching, synthesizing data or other information
      • University degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent combination of relation experience, education and/or training
      • Experience in policy research and inquiry skills, including the ability to review and critically analyze and synthesize policy issues and documents.
      • Experience working within government decision-making processes and with executive documents, such as briefing notes, Cabinet submissions, and/or business and strategic plans
      • Experience in stakeholder relations and working with multiple government branches
      • Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
      • Experience working in a high-paced, deadline driven work unit
      • Experience providing oral briefings and recommendations to senior management and senior officials, and experience in a policy and/or central agency environment would be assets

      About this Position:
      This is a temporary opportunity until June 28, 2024.
      A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
      An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
