Job summary
Job Opportunity: Band 2 Clerk/Receptionist
Directorate: Informatics & Patient Administration (Corporate)
Location: Emergency Department, QEHB
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Band 2 Clerk/Receptionist in our busy Emergency Department. This front-line role provides essential administrative and clerical support.
Fixed shifts are available on a 4-on, 4-off rota, including weekends and Bank Holidays (including Christmas). Hours are non-negotiable due to service needs.
Vacant posts:
* 08:00--16:00 -- 26.25 hrs/week
* 09:00--17:00 -- 26.25 hrs/week
* 16:00--22:00 -- 21 hrs/week (x2 posts)
* 22:00--03:00 -- 17.5 hrs/week
The post is primarily based at QEHB with occasional cover at BHH and GHH. You will be the first point of contact for patients, responsible for registering arrivals, maintaining accurate data on PAS (Oceano), and supporting the department's clinical team.
We're looking for someone with excellent communication, attention to detail, and strong teamwork. You must be resilient, organised, and aligned with the Trust's Vision and Values.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be educated to a good standard and will demonstrate excellent motivation, organisation, and communication skills. You must be able to remain focused and professional in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Strong keyboard skills and a high level of accuracy are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
Physical Demands: This role requires frequent periods of sitting or standing in a restricted position for extended durations throughout the working day.
Mental Demands: The post involves frequent concentration, often under unpredictable or changing work patterns.
Emotional Demands: The role frequently involves exposure to distressing or emotionally sensitive situations, requiring resilience, professionalism, and the ability to remain composed under pressure
Working Environment: Frequent use of Visual Display Unit (VDU) equipment is required on most days. The post also includes frequent exposure to less favourable working conditions.
