      Job summary

      We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our dynamic team. This role involves working across multiple sites to support the delivery of high-quality sexual health patient care, education and support, so you must be able to be flexible in your working day. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services, from direct patient care to maintaining the clinical environment. Comprehensive training will be provided to all successful applicants. You will need to be empathetic and have good people skills and be able to work as part of a team, ensuring good communication and being very aware of importance of maintaining confidentiality at all times, both within work and outside.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be required to chaperone patients attending clinics, ensuring that they always maintain patient privacy and dignity and provide reassurance and empathy to patients who may feel vulnerable whilst undergoing invasive procedures. You will act as patient advocate supporting patients and appreciating potential embarrassment and concerns. You will assist with collecting samples and ensuring that the correct processes are undertaken to ensure that they are delivered to the laboratories promptly and efficiently. You will be trained in venepuncture (taking blood) and other patient tests appropriate to your role. Other responsibilities will include stock management and rotation, cleaning equipment and ensuring a clean and tidy clinical and reception area.
