      Job summary

      School Aged Immunisation Service - Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers

      An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the School Aged Immunisation Service.

      You will be part of a team that ensures all children and young people are offered important immunisations protecting them against serious diseases. You will work alongside colleagues at base and in schools to vaccinate children and young people from Monday to Friday. There may be limited opportunities for some evening or weekend to support community clinics.

      We are looking for Band 2 Health Care Support Workers.

      We are currently based at Bridge Park Plaza, Thurmaston, on the edge of Watermead Country Park. We will be moving to County Hall, Glenfield Hospital site from End of Spring 2024. Free car parking is available at both sites.

      You will be required to travel to different schools and settings each day across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.

      Due to the nature of work all successful applicants attending sessions will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) certificate which we will apply for on your behalf.

      Main duties of the job

      The service requires staff to work shifts from 7 am until 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

      The role will require you to hold a full driving licence and to drive the Trusts vehicle to transport vaccines and equipment required for the day.

      There is also a need for support at base with vaccine and equipment management to ensure school sessions are fully equipped. In addition there will also be some general administrative tasks required to be undertaken, which will support with ensuring sessions are successful.

      You will need to work as part of a large team and work will be allocated using a roster based on the needs of the service.

      The following skills and experience are essential to the role:

      • Excellent communication skills.
      • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
      • Experience of working with children and young people is desirable but not essential.

      • Care Certificate or Required to successfully complete within 12 weeks
