      The Human Resources Branch (HR) supports the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) with human resources and organizational development initiatives, programs and services related to workforce planning, engagement, leadership development, recruitment and retention, corporate HR priorities, occupational health and safety, Indigenous strategic human resources, cultural safety, equity diversity & inclusion, corporate learning and development, and client services. The HR Branch focuses on the needs of the ministry and social sector partners to ensure they have the people and skills they need to provide exceptional services to the children, youth, and families of British Columbia, now and into the future.

      Reporting to the Senior Manager HR, the HR Consultant provides strategic advice and consultation on the Ministry’s workplace retention strategies and programs, and leads the development and implementation of priority programs, projects and initiatives as outlined in the ministry and social sector workforce plans.

      The HR branch is hiring an HR Consultant for the following team:

      • Workforce Planning


      Job Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in HR, public administration, social sciences, business administration or related field and a minimum of two years of related experience; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

      Related experience must include all of the following:

      • Experience in at least one of the following areas: hiring, retention, organizational development, workforce planning, employee engagement, or reporting.
      • Experience building partnerships, facilitating discussions, consulting with, and/or providing expert advice to clients and/or key partners (internal/external).
      • Experience developing or managing HR programs.
      • Experience researching and analysing complex issues.
      • Experience managing initiatives, projects and/or programs.

      Preference Statements:

      • Three years or more experience in the required statements above.
      • Experience analyzing workforce data from multiple data sources to make recommendations in support of programs and initiatives.
      • Experience making presentations (in writing and verbally) to Executive and senior management for information or endorsement.
      • Experience as a policy analyst.
      • Experience providing HR advice and expertise to managers/supervisors.
      • Experience working in the public sector.

      About this Position:
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
      This is for one (1) permanent opportunity.
      This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
