      Bring your policy and legislation expertise to this leadership role

      The Manager, Policy & Legislation independently manages complex policy and legislation projects in response to initiatives and priorities of the branch including those related to the branch’s mandate and legislation. The position defines the scope and requirements of each project based on an analysis of project parameters and pertinent issues, and examines the potential outcomes of different responses to issues, taking into account the views of concerned parties, other government ministries and other jurisdictions.

      Job Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: social sciences, humanities, public administration, business administration, political science, law or economics; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.


      Three (3) years of related experience (within the last 5 years) in each of the following:

      • Researching, analysing, developing, planning, coordinating and delivering complex policy and legislation initiatives or program reforms.
      • Working with senior government officials and senior level professionals, or teams and committees comprised of senior managers.
      • Drafting briefing material & other documents (e.g., discussion papers) providing options and policy recommendations to enable decisions.


      Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

      • Graduate degree in a relevant field (as identified above).
      • More than three (3) years related experience (within the past 7 years) in one or more of the areas defined above.
      • Experience briefing senior level officials on complex policy and legislation initiatives (written and verbally).
      • Experience working with legislative counsel on legislation and regulation amendments.
      • Experience supervising and developing direct-reports.
      • One (1) or more years experience developing or contributing to the creation of cannabis or liquor policy, regulation or legislation.
