      Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) is a dynamic, progressive and innovative organization that supports external communication of government in its ongoing dialogue with British Columbians. GCPE leads and coordinates government communications through its three divisions: Strategic Communications, Communications Operations and Corporate Priorities.

      The Writer of Writing and Content Strategy is a writing and content specialist responsible for writing, editing and repurposing content to support the Office of the Premier, as well as high-profile initiatives led by Government Communications and Public Engagement ministry shops. The Writer operates in a politically sensitive environment, where managing competing priorities, maintaining high standards of accuracy, and handling confidential matters are the norm. The Writer exercises critical thinking, independent decision-making, and problem solving to deliver on government’s mandate and strategic communications objectives.

      Job Requirements:

      • Post-secondary education in a communications-related field (journalism, public relations, political science, writing, English, marketing, etc.); OR
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
      • 3 years experience in a progressively responsible communications role.
      • 3 years experience in concisely and persuasively writing a variety of materials such as communications or engagement plans, speeches, newsletter articles, key messaging, news releases, etc.

      Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work one or more days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
