      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity to join the Haematology Research Team, based at University Hospital Birmingham. The post holder will be a key member of the team in the provision of clinical trials and research projects available to our patients. Responsible for assisting Research Nurses/ Clinical Trial co-ordinators in managing the care pathways for patients participating in clinical trials. This involves patient recruitment into research projects, the collection/documentation of accurate data, the processing of biological samples and the maintenance/management of investigator site files.

      Main duties of the job

      You will be responsible for ensuring clinical trials are conducted to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, and standard operating procedures. Actively support and set up new trials by working and liasing with R,D&I and other service departments such as imaging/labs/pharmacy, making sure appropriate trial documentation is circulated and processed in a timely manner. In depth knowledge of their trial portfolio. Excellent organisation/communication skills. Effective time management and ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to use a variety of databases/computerized systems to extract, enter and report.

      Previous office experience required, excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Education to A Level or equivilent. Maths & English at GCSE level, Grade C or above.

      Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.

      Use own initiative.

      Accurate and attentive to detail.

      Excellent numerical and written skills.
