- *Basic education to GCSE/'O' Level in Maths and English or post-secondary Education in a relevant field
- *City & Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate in Course 6217-02 Carpentry & Joinery
- Or,
- *An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Or,
- *BTEC/ONC in Building or Construction Services.
- *Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Building or Construction for a minimum of 3 years
- Plus
- *At least 2 years post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility.
- And
- *Background in Building or Construction installation, alteration, maintenance, or repair.
- And
- *Experience of Building plant, equipment, and woodworking machinery.
- *Capable working to deadlines.
- *Reasonably clear and effective in verbal and written communications.
- *Ability to work without supervision and confident to take decisions based on own ability.
- *Adaptable to change.
- *Available for undertaking overtime.
- *Physically demanding role requiring manual handling of loads, extremes of temperature and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.

Job summary
For the role of Maintenance Carpenter you will need to be keen, enthusiastic and physically fit working as part of a team. The main activities are maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance monitoring and associated remedial work at Heartlands Hospital site and Community Properties. Applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe, tidy manner and be capable of working on their own initiative. To maintain continuity of service there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties is required as well as a requirement to undertake training to remain current with relevant standards.

About the team:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Carpenter to join our Estates team at Heartlands Hospital. The Trust has four main sites and community properties, therefore applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner. To maintain continuity of service there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties is required. The post-holder must have a good general knowledge of domestic and commercial building Services.
About the role:
This job is for a Carpenter who has a good general knowledge of domestic and commercial buildings. In your duties of maintenance there will be statutory checks in line with Approved Code of Practice (Building Regulations, HBN & HTM).
You will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as working within a team. You will need knowledge of building structures and fabric as well as fire compartmentalisation and fire door maintenance. Applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner.
