Job summary
The Haematology Department has a part-time vacancy for a Medical Secretary / Pathway Navigator.
Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative service to the Consultants and multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications or experience of working as a Medical Secretary and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.
This role also encompasses Haematology Administration, dealing with appointments for Haematology patient .
This vacancy requires interaction with patients, GPs, Consultants, and team members.
This is an opportunity to work in a fascinating specialty with a friendly team.
Main duties of the job
This role is based at Watford General Hospital . The successful candidate will provide medical secretarial support to 2 part time Haematology Consultant and their team, and act as a central point for the managing and booking of the following up appointments

To provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients attending the Haematology department. To manage telephone and written enquiries from GPs, patients, and internal teams in a courteous, confidential, and efficient mannerensuring accurate messages and information are relayed promptly to the appropriate clinicians or staff members. The role involves handling highly sensitive and sometimes distressing clinical information with discretion and professionalism. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for the efficient coordination of Haematology outpatient clinics, including booking, amending, and cancelling appointments as required by consultants, the senior nursing team, and the Assistant Divisional Manager, ensuring smooth clinic operations and continuity of care.
