- Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including various voltage systems, steam raising plant and associated equipment, steam sterilizers, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, lighting, fire detection, building services controls, standby generator plant, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration plant.
- Manufacture, design, assemble, erect and install new work often using own judgement regarding a range of complex equipment, requiring accuracy and precision.
- Responsible for undertaking condition surveys, evaluating inspection reports and maintenance repairs, improvement and capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
- Providing an emergency out of hours service, working a rotating shift pattern covering 365 days a year subject to appropriate negotiations.
- Required to act within the constraints of national, local and Trust-wide policies, protocols and best practice guidance and be guided by these but will need to establish the way in which these should be interpreted.

- Experience of working on breakdowns and PPM on technical mechanical, steam raising, and electrical plant found in a hospital environment.
- Experience of working on new installations, control systems, plant and equipment breakdowns, fault finding, rectifications and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of technical mechanical, steam raising and electrical plant and equipment found in a typical complex engineering or healthcare environment.
- Well organised and ability to analyse highly complex and technical facts or situations and exercise a high level of judgment in arriving at decisions.
- Experience of managing contractors and consultants
- HND or equivalent experience or willing to work towards a HND City & Guilds 232 or 236 or 205
- Course 596 Plumbing Advanced Certificate Or Course 569 Plumbing Craft Certificate Or Equivalent NVQ Level 3 Craft Certificate
- Completion of recognised and registered CITB or EITB apprenticeship
- Evidence of continuing professional and managerial development. Professional membership of an appropriate body.
- Electrical/Mechanical Degree
- Sound understanding of management processes & contracts.
- Evidence of continuing professional and managerial development. Professional membership of an appropriate body

We are seeking a highly motivated electrically biased professional individual to work to assist a multi -skilled team of tradespersons in carrying out the maintenance of building services, plant and equipment within a range of healthcare buildings.
The Electrical Technician is a member of the new LPT Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) team and will carry out with minimum supervision, maintenance, fault finding, repairs and installation work on all facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust estate and will also act as the Trust representative in the absence of the Supervisor or when requested to do so as and when the need arises by line management.
Working on the full range of Estates Services equipment, the Electrical Technician will undertake activities which require comparison of a range of options, complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technical issues in on multifaceted equipment/situations many of which have a direct impact on patient safety and the built environment.
