Job summary
Responsible for providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy (OT)services to patients treated within the RFH Trust Acute site. This requiresworking under supervision and guidance and incorporating evidence-basedpractice (EBP) in the management of patient care. The rotations take place ona 6 monthly basis and includes the following clinical areas:? Health Services for Elderly People? Acute Neurosciences? Critical Care - Medicine? Critical Care - Surgery? Orthopaedics? Renal & Urology? Rapid ResponseWithin these rotations you will complete functional assessment and treatment ofpatients preparing them for safe discharge to home, the community orrehabilitation settings. The caseload consists of patients with physical andmental dysfunctions, and encompasses various specialty areas of OccupationalTherapy. Depending upon the site, this post may require the ability to performmanual handling tasks such as the hoisting and/or transfer of patients, fittingand delivery of ADL equipment, specialist splinting skills and basic IT skills.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic occupational therapist to join our dynamic Therapy Services Team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post includes six-month rotations across the following areas:
NeurosciencesTrauma & OrthopaedicsRespiratory & Critical CareMedicine & SurgeryHealth Services for Elderly PeopleRapid ResponseRenal & Urology
The rotations give you the opportunity to work across a wide range of clinical specialties, to develop core occupational therapy skills in order to carry out complex occupational therapy assessments of functional ability, cognition, home situation and psychosocial issues. You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, working together in the best interests of the patients. You will be supported by a highly structured programme of learning and induction and experienced senior occupational therapists.
