      Job summary

      We are excited to announce the launch of our new Leicestershire and Rutland Sexual Health Service and are looking for aBand 6 Senior Sexual Health Practitionerto join our team.

      Based at our Loughborough Health Centre, with service locations across Rutland, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, and Coalville, this a part or full time role, offers a unique opportunity to provide free, confidential sexual health services to the local community. This role will involve travel across our localities.

      We would welcome an existing Band 6 Senior Sexual Health Practitioner or an existing Band 5 Sexual Health Practitioner, seeking promotion, who has recognised sexual health competencies (STIF Foundation or Intermediate), Faculty Diploma in Contraception DFSRH) and at least 2 years sexual health experience at Band 5/6. You will work as a member of the sexual health team as an autonomous practitioner providing sexual health provision. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and commissioners to develop services in line with commissioning and objectives.

      Main duties of the job

      • Manage and triage patients for sexual health, contraception, and HIV care, escalating to the multidisciplinary team when necessary.
      • Provide STI/HIV screening, treatment, and partner management following clinical protocols and Patient Group Directions (PGDs).
      • Insert and remove contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices after appropriate training.
      • Promote sexual health through education, brief interventions, and positive health messaging.
      • Work autonomously to manage a caseload, ensuring patient choice and effective care pathways.
      • Offer specialised advice, develop care plans, and support colleagues with clinical leadership.
      • Maintain accurate records and uphold clinical governance and organisational policies.
      • Participate in audits, research, and service development initiatives.
      • Commit to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Registered Nurse with NMC registration
      • Minimum 2 years Nursing experience at Band 6, or experienced Band 5 in a sexual health setting
      • Experience working within Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
      • Teaching and mentorship experience
      • FSRH Faculty Diploma in Contraception & STIF Foundation
      • Letters of Competency for Subdermal Implants
      • Symptomatic screening (STIF Foundation)
      • Ability to apply research evidence and theory to clinical practice
      • Understanding of factors influencing intervention models and patient participation
      • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
